“Ask yourself, What is this doing for my problems? How does this bring solution? There is always one answer and it is nothing.”
Prologue
Some years ago, I was in a stable state of mind. Though I was not struggling, I had a feeling of failure. Almost like I knew I had more to do with my time. At the time, I had a well paid job and a stable relationship so what could be the issue? I couldn’t figure it out so I went searching the internet. I came across a guy who would talk about spirituality. Now even though I went to a catholic school, I was never a fan of worship. It just didn’t align with me to give my praise to an entity of no visual evidence from my behalf.
Some time passed and I began to realize how diverged I was into the internet culture. It was not like I was apart of it but, instead I was a consumer. So much gluttony I would spend on watching others that it started to take pieces from me one by one. Slowly I became a mess. And that’s when it hit me. What is this doing for my problems? How did watching someone else’s experience bring solution to my own? For the longest time I couldn’t accept the one answer my inner compass would always whisper to my ear. Nothing.
Ok and?
So what does this have to do with what the meaning of todays writing? Well here’s the thing. I couldn’t accept such a simple answer because it just didn’t make sense. We humans are very complex people. Complexity is in our body so why shouldn’t it be for all answers. Well the truth is that sometimes we just simply don’t need to make everything harder than what it already is. For that period of time I had to realize that there was no finding answers on someone else’s experience. Sure perhaps there is some relatability but, if you want real answers you find them on your own. Nobody else can make them for you.
We often look for help to solve our problems for us. For example, people meditate for a state of calmness or to simply call themselves within a meditator. We find logic in our own. But to pick your brain, Does a massage not bring the same calmness as would a meditation? Would a hot bath or shower not relax the muscles to the same extent or the mind? Truth is we are just prescribing ourselves to this. The ancient greats before us used these techniques sure however, they aligned this with what they deemed necessary for their pathway. Ask yourself if that’s what your doing.
Ask yourself
If you really want to find some answers, Sit with your problems. Unstimulated by the outside noise of everything, Truly sit. In solitude and hear the answers come from within. The only way out of your current problems is by using those authentic answers you get. There is nothing more and nothing less that you can do aside from this. Ignoring these clear signals is only a way of layering another brick in front of your face on an already sturdy wall.
You have to find your own way. Your own answers. Do not think less of yourself because you think it is a problem not solvable. There are solutions and you have them already. Simply listen. So when you want to meditate next time, Do not do it for a sake of ending. To gain a reward or benefit. You do a meditation to hear the truth. That is all. Finding the truth within all of this is your mission and goal. What is the truth you are looking for? Do not look to me or a Jeff Bezos to give you the answer. Our truths are different, the colors don’t match, and they are lined into different shapes and features both of us cannot elaborate to looking at the other.
Once you begin to that, You begin to live. You breath for once. There’s life there. You will find the answers you seek. You have all the tools needed. Regardless of where you are in life. You have every resource possible to get to the other side. The island you were given is yours to keep. Build the bridge that gets you to where you want. Actually take it. Learn to take things with effort and persistence.
You got this. Life is not that hard, unless you make it so.
